Three Crew Members Wait for Salvage but Refuse to be Rescued.

According to Vietnamese authorities, they were requested to conduct a rescue operation for a cargo ship that was in trouble, but when they arrived at the ship, some of the crew members reportedly refused to leave after being instructed to do so by the vessel's owners. Only three crew members remained on board after they were all evacuated, however it's unknown how the disabled ship is currently doing.

The general cargo ship Hoa Lu 02 reportedly requested help from the Border Guard at around 2:25 a.m. local time, according to the Border Guard. The 2014-built 4,900 dwt yacht was observed in choppy waters off the northern edge of the Gulf of Tonkin. When heavy weather struck, the ship was en route from the southern port of Go Dau to Hai Pong. The captain called for an emergency rescue after the ship lost power during the storm in the Gulf of Tonkin and was sinking low in the sea.

The local government sent out a request for help from any fishing boats and sent out a rescue boat, which arrived at the cargo ship around 5:00 am local time. The rescue ship made an attempt to approach the cargo ship, but it was reportedly unable to do so due to choppy waters. About 5 nautical miles off the coast of Nghi Xuan, the ship was.

The crew was evacuated numerous times before it was decided that they should board the cargo ship's rafts. Three of the crew members balked at going on the rafts with the others since the ship wasn't sinking. The rescue team made an effort to convince the crew to board the rafts with the others, but they refused, claiming that the shipping firm had instructed them to remain on board until a salvage ship could reach them.

The three crew members were caught on camera refusing to leave the ship, and the Vietnamese rescue team then proceeded to save 13 other crew members. When they arrived at the fishing village of Cua Hoi, they were moved from the rafts to the patrol boat and hauled ashore.
